The 52 companies let you take a look behind the scenes – in an inviting, exciting, impressive and humorous way. An eventful evening is guaranteed, the perfect setting for the search for your dream job. We want to support you in this search and briefly introduce you to the participating sectors below:
Life sciences is the most important economic sector in the Basel region. Companies in this sector operate at the intersection of medicine, biology, chemistry, technology, and the environment. They develop medicines, research health risks, manufacture prostheses, and much more. Five companies from this sector are taking part in the Industry Night: Bayer, Medartis, Novartis, Roche, and Straumann. This offers you the perfect chance to immerse yourself in the everyday life of laboratory technicians. Life sciences rely on various machines and equipment manufactured by the mechanical engineering, electrical, and metal industries, or MEM for short. You can explore the world of mechanical engineering at Industry Night at SKAN (for instance, looking at isolators for the production of vaccines) and Willy A. Bachofen (including shaker mixers for the pharmaceutical industry). Highly specialized devices and technologies are developed by Endress+Hauser (measuring devices) and Neoperl (fittings). Both companies are world leaders in their field, and attractive employers.
Electrical and building services technologies are a highly sought-after career field. At Industry Night, you can discover this sector from a number of different perspectives. Jobs with high-tech power await you at Actemium, Axians, ETAVIS, QuantumBasel, Selmoni, Siemens, and Tschantré. If you have a talent for lighting concepts, then Regent Lighting is the perfect place for you. Transportation and logistics is another largely electrified sector. At Industry Night, you can experience Basel as a transport hub at four locations: Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe, Felix Transport and at the logistics companies Contargo and Ultra-Brag at Hafenbecken 2.
If working with your hands is more your style, then visit the Tschudin and Voellmy carpentry workshops. You’ll also learn more about working in the skilled trades at Birkhäuser+GBC, KMU Reinach, and Götschi. Do you have a gift for cooking and love delicious meals and drinks? The food industry in the region has a lot to offer. Whether it’s metre-long pizzas, hearty pastries, sparkling drinks, or soothing herbal sweets, there’s plenty to discover and try at Industry Night. Bäckerei KULT, Birtel Biermanufaktur, Jakob’s Basler Leckerly, Ricola, Sutter Begg, and VITO are looking forward to your visit.
Maybe your interests lie more in urban planning and development? Do you want to learn more about plans for transforming and repurposing former industrial sites? Then pay a visit to Christoph Merian Foundation and Denkstatt at Dreispitzareal, Franck Areal, Gundeldinger Feld, Stücki Park, and uptownBasel at Schorenareal. Meanwhile, the Swiss Economic Archives offer a glimpse into the past of these and other work environments in the region, a must-visit for anyone aspiring to a job in the archives sector.
Meanwhile, a number of bodies ensure that everything moves smoothly in our region, that the infrastructure fulfils its purpose and that Basel remains an attractive destination. They include IWB (drinking water and energy suppliers), the Department of Construction and Transport (urban planning), the Messe und Congress Center Basel (event services), and dandelion (care centre). Companies in the waste management and construction sectors also play an important role in ensuring our community thrives and functions. At Industry Night, you can learn more about sustainable cycles at Lottner, OFFCUT, habö, and KIBAG. You might even discover exciting professions in an industry so vital for the future.
