Tour suggestion by Kaspar Sutter

Basel City is a diverse business hub that attracts large international companies, SMEs, and innovative start-ups. They all contribute to Basel’s success as a business hub and at the same time ensure that job opportunities are plentiful in Basel. I’m delighted that so many different companies are taking part in the third Industrienacht, opening their doors to the public and providing a look behind the scenes.
My route begins near the SBB train station at the headquarters of the Straumann Group. Straumann is a global leader in the fields of dental prosthetics and orthodontics. Innovative companies like Straumann are important for bolstering our reputation as a business hub.
After that I’ll head to the Dreispitz area to visit Offcut. Offcut gathers materials that would otherwise end up as waste and sells them on as supplies for new projects, extending the life of these materials. As such, Offcut is pioneering the circular economy. The circular economy is a key factor for Basel City to achieve its target of being net zero by 2037.
My route stops at my former employer, SBB. This look behind the scenes of the SBB service facility on their Wolf site is a unique opportunity not to be missed. SBB ensures that Switzerland has access to sustainable transportation every day. Not only do they transport goods, but they also take people to their holidays, work, and home. Well-developed public transportation is a must for climate neutrality.
To round off the evening, my route takes me to St Johann. At Volta Bräu, I’ll take a look at how fresh, local craft beer is brewed in Basel. If you like, you can even brew your own beer at Volta Bräu and get some valuable tips from the head brewer.
