Industry Night has become a firm fixture in Basel’s events calendar. The range of activities and events on offer makes for a very entertaining evening. There’s something for everyone! You can marvel at innovations and technology or be impressed by logistical masterpieces. Last but certainly not least, you can see firsthand how beloved everyday products are made. In previous years, I’ve been impressed by how creatively all the companies worked to convey complex ideas to the general public.

I’ll start my tour across Basel at Alfred Imhof, a company that specializes in drive technology. In day-to-day life, it goes without saying that we expect everything to run smoothly. This requires drives, for examples for baggage handling systems or the beverage industry, etc.

The next stop on my tour is the Dreispitz area, where there are several intriguing media companies to visit. At Oslo Studios, I’ll get a behind-the-scenes of film production. I’ll also stop by Radio X – my favourite radio station! – where I’ll enjoy shadowing my favourite radio presenters while they host their legendary shows.

I’ll continue to Kleinhüningen to Medartis. Here, I can see how medical implants are developed and manufactured with high precision. Digitalization has been used to support these processes, making many things possible that were once inconceivable. Medical technology has developed rapidly in recent years and it’s great to have such innovative companies based in Basel.

Finally, I’ll head somewhere a little more hands on. The Rhine port, the golden gateway to Switzerland, is essential for the country’s supply chains. Ultra-Brag works with modern logistics in all its facets. You’re sure to be impressed when you visit these large-scale facilities and talk to experts about the enormous volume of goods transported and stored here every day.

From the port, I’ll head straight to Volta Bräu. I’ll round off the evening by treating myself to a cold beer in the local brewery, where I can chat to the master brewer about their new varieties of beer and developments in brewing.
