Tour suggestion by Sandra Luzia Schafroth

My family and I have been coming to Industrienacht for as long as it’s existed – and every year, I find it thrilling. Industrienacht is much more than just a public event for Basel. It’s a platform for exchange, networking, and inspiration. It offers insight into what happens behind the scenes and lets us experience the city’s innovations first hand. This evening is unmissable for anyone who wants to understand why Basel is a leading economic region.
As a cultural manager and communications consultant, I’m particularly fascinated by the interfaces between architecture, technology, and creativity – topics that are part of my daily work. The choice of events on offer is impressive, and it’s not always easy for us to make our selection. Our first stop is uptownBasel. Here we experience how the cities of tomorrow may look. The guided tour of The Pioneer, which is the flagship building on the site, is a masterpiece of architecture and digitalisation, making it the perfect starting point. Our interactive tour continues at Alfred Imhof, a leading company for electromechanical drive systems. Here we can immerse ourselves in the world of state-of-the-art machines and try our hand at the racing simulator.
Next, we’ll take shuttle line D to Reinach to Endress+Hauser. This company works with precision, something invisible yet with a great impact. Here you can test your senses with state-of-the-art sensor technology and learn how measurement data influences our everyday lives. At the Alti Paperi site in Arlesheim, a creative finale to our tour awaits us. The band Homemade Iscream finds a perfect harmony of art and music with craftsmanship and technology. The band builds their own instruments – and will be presenting their new album on Industrienacht.
These experiences and encounters are what make Industrienacht so special – discovering, marveling, trying things out together, and understanding what’s happening behind the scenes. I offer a big thank you to the companies who put their heart and soul into putting on a creative event. Industrienacht is a unique opportunity for us as a family to discover new perspectives together, to look beyond our own area of work and to experience innovation where it is created
