Welding pipes, brewing beer, travelling through Switzerland in a locomotive simulator

The programme for Industry Night Regio Basel is online. On 9 May, there are over 160 adventures to experience: Exclusive tours behind the scenes, hands-on workshops and all kinds of opportunities to talk to employees and immerse yourself in their working world. 48 companies will be offering exciting insights into their everyday life from 5pm to midnight, from Basel harbour to Reinach.
From logistics to pharmaceuticals to trade
This year's Industry Night impresses with its great diversity. 48 companies from various sectors open their doors and offer a spectacular programme. One of the highlights are the guided tours to places that are otherwise closed to the public: to Endress+Hauser's production facility, SBB’s service centre or Swisscom's Internet backbone. Also worthwhile are the tours of the Axians security operations centre, the Weleda garden and the impressions we get at the Roche research centre. A journey for the palate awaits us at the Birtel Brewery, in the Sutter Begg bakery or at the Ricola Confectionery Cookery Show. Meanwhile, Medartis and Straumann offer an insight into the manufacture of implants, IWB into the region's energy supply, Exhibition and Congress Center into its event world and Theater Basel into the construction of its stage sets. The concept of the circular economy becomes tangible in Lottner's factory halls, artificial intelligence in diagnostics at Stücki Park and the potential of quantum computers at QuantumBasel. And at Blaser Architekten, we learn how space is created, who is involved and how it shapes our lives.
At many locations, visitors can try their hands, for example as a baker, at the wheel of an excavator or in a racing simulator. At Industry Night, we assemble control cabinets together, weld and lay pipes, design mouthwash cups, model playgrounds, print T-shirts, wrap handmade pastries, make candles, solder games, and programme robots. In addition, employees also provide straightforward information about career opportunities at their company. Industry Night is a great opportunity for young people to experience the regional labour market and discover their own interests.

‘Basel is an important life sciences cluster, a national hub for goods with its ports and an attractive location for start-ups, SMEs and large companies. The programme for this year's Industry Night shows just how diverse our economic region is. I am delighted that Industry Night is providing the general public with exciting insights behind the scenes for the third time.’
– Kaspar Sutter, Government Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt
‘The programme is as varied and colourful as our economy itself and not only offers deep insights into the regional corporate landscape, but also opens up new horizons. As the main sponsor, we are looking forward to a lively crowd and a close dialogue between our companies and the people in our region.’
– Andreas Meier, Deputy Chairman of the Basel Chamber of Commerce

‘The life sciences and medical technology sectors are the main pillars of Basel's economy and key drivers of innovation and progress. As an internationally active company with an export share of 95%, we value the unique locational advantages that Basel offers. These must be preserved. The direct dialogue with the population not only strengthens the understanding of our industry, but also the anchoring of our company in the region and our employer brand.’
– Matthias Schupp, CEO Medartis
‘It is a pleasure for us to show how IWB supplies Basel with safe, reliable and climate-friendly energy. Industry Night is a great platform to present the fascinating technology behind the socket and behind the tap and to get people excited about it. We are really looking forward to it!’
– Claus Schmidt, CEO IWB
