Delicacies from the region

Pizza swirls, chocolate croissants, craft beer and wine - food that makes us happy. At the Industry Night, you can experience how they are produced in the Basel region. You’ll find fresh craft beer brewed daily at Volta Bräu, where you can enjoy these beers on tap. Discover the art of beer brewing at Brewpub on Voltaplatz, ask the master brewer all of your questions, and brew your own beer! Birtel also makes excellent craft beer. This Dreispitz-based beer manufacturer uses their own hops and malting barley, with all their raw materials grown in Switzerland. At Industry Night the team will explain each step of how this popular drink is produced. Next, you’ll sample Birtel’s offerings at Fahrbar. vinigma’s wine cellar is located nearby, also in Dreispitz. This urban winery harvests red and white grapes from their own vineyards in Jenins and purchases grapes from both Aesch in the Basel region and Valais. At Industry Night, see how these winemakers produce their characterful wines: from the grape delivery and the pressing to the labelling of bottles. And of course, you’ll have a chance to taste the wines yourself.

Alongside the wine and beer cellars, regional bakeries are also opening their doors at Industry Night. Experience a day in the life of a modern baker at Sutter Begg in the Dreispitz area. This bakery is a family business founded over 100 years ago, with twenty-seven branches in the region. Take an exclusive tour through the bakery and try your hand at making pastries and baking. Bäckerei KULT is known for its delicious sourdough breads, with a new branch just opened in Voltaplatz. A varied programme awaits you at Industry Night. Sample the bread selection, have a go kneading the dough and braid a plait or try your hand at foaming milk at the barista station. And don’t forget the most important part: the tasting!

Last but not least, discover a craft with a rich history at Ricola. This famous producer of herbal sweets and herbal and instant teas was founded in 1930 and operates in more than fifty countries worldwide today. Their head office is still located in Laufen. In fact, their connection with the region remains clear in the name itself “Ri-co-la” (Richterich Compagnie Laufen). Ricola exclusively uses herbs from the Swiss mountain regions. At Industry Night in Messeplatz you can come and see how their herbal sugar is produced from the original recipe – of course, with a chance to taste it yourself. Employees also invite you to pick their brains about career possibilities at Ricola
