Tour suggestion by Miriam Locher

As an advocate of a strong public service, but also as a long-standing teacher, I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Swiss Post. It makes for a brilliant teaching topic in nursery and school, as it lends itself perfectly to holistic and cross-curricular learning. Furthermore, I am a political advocate for a nationwide postal network that also serves small communities. Only in this way can Swiss Post make its vital contribution to social cohesion, to a modern and sustainable society, and act as a unifying force between the different language regions. It is also well worth visiting other logistics companies, such as Planzer or IKEA.
As my dad owned a small building firm and my grandfathers also ran a workshop and a joinery, I’ll naturally be visiting (at least) one more craft business. At the Büchi joinery, childhood memories are bound to come flooding back of afternoons spent amidst the smell of wood shavings, the sound of saws and the clatter of hammers and nails – even if this wasn’t always welcome, as in the excitement the tools rarely found their way back to where they belonged. Wood has always fascinated me as a sustainable material, and I’d love to see how it’s worked with this evening as well.
After visiting lots of different places, I’d like to round off the Industry Night at the Unser Bier brewery. What impresses me about the brewery is that, with around 11,742 shareholders, it consistently pursues the concept of local production for local consumption. I believe this idea – which is strongly focused on sustainability and involves brewing beers for our region in Basel and Liestal using raw materials sourced predominantly from organic farming – is well worth supporting.
And so I bring the Industry Night Regio Liestal 2026 to a close, in the hope that all our visitors have had a lovely evening and, of course, looking forward to seeing how many fantastic companies I’ll be able to visit again next year.
