We asked various personalities from the region which companies they will be visiting on Industry Night. The first tour suggestion comes from Claudio Miozzari, President of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

My discovery tour of Basel's working world

I’m inclined to simply let myself wander through Industry Night and explore without any detailed planning – but the programme is terrific and includes countless exciting places to discover. I want to make the most of the one night. So let’s take a look at a few spots I’d love to explore.

Stücki Park certainly calls to me. It’s a massive site packed with economic oomph. I would love to visit Medartis, a company specializing in osteosynthesis in the field of medical technology. I’d use Industry Night as an excuse to look behind the scenes at the many companies based at Stücki Park.

I’m interested in transport systems, so I use the Industry Night shuttle buses to travel easily from one place to the next. The pink A shuttle line takes me to Contargo. I’d enjoy marvelling at everything happening at the harbour, and pondering the meaning of this mass-scale exchange of goods for us all.

I can take the blue B shuttle line to KIBAG in Allschwil. I’ve cycled past the KIBAG gravel plant countless times, but I’ve never managed to visit. Industry Night is the chance to finally do it! I can change to the orange D line at Messeplatz and keep travelling. What is Bayer researching by the train station? Do they have labs there too? An Industry Night visit will answer my questions. The violet E line takes me straight to Actemium in Arlesheim. I want to see how robots are being used in certain areas. And how new innovations are underway at Schorenareal.
