Tour suggestion by Andreas Fries

What fascinates me about the Industry Night Regio Basel is how spaces that are usually hidden from view are brought to light. Workshops, production halls, laboratories, infrastructure and machinery all tell their own stories here. My suggested tour takes you to places where you can experience people, materials, construction and processes first-hand.

The evening begins at the Alti Papieri site, in the world of art casting. Throughout the evening, visitors to the art foundry can watch as ideas are transformed, step by step, into bronze reality. The focus then shifts to ‘renovation’: during guided tours at 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm with BauBüro In Situ, the construction site of the main building B2 will be open to the public, allowing visitors to experience the transformation of this historic site at first hand. The tour concludes at the workshops of Theater Basel, where metalwork, carpentry and painting take place behind the scenes – this is where the craftsmanship underpinning the major productions is created.

An evening where industry becomes a stage and space becomes an experience.
