Review - The third Industry Night attracted 16,000 visitors

Trains suspended in midair, a data centre teeming with optical fibres, and body cells in close-up: for the third time, the Industry Night offered exciting insights into the working world of the Basel region. 16,000 people from the three-country region took the opportunity to immerse themselves in production facilities and laboratories, try their hand at being a craftsman, and peppered employees with their burning questions. The initiators draw an all-round positive conclusion.

Unique experiences were once again guaranteed at this year's Industry Night. The third edition delighted young and old alike with over 180 programme items. The tours of the Endress+Hauser production facility, the Roche research centre and the Weleda garden were particular crowd-pullers. The guided tours of the IWB factory, Swisscom's control centre and the theatre workshop also offered impressive insights behind the scenes. The numerous interactive offers were also very popular. Visitors brewed their own beer at Volta Bräu, built solar fans in Stücki Park and discovered their personal favourite water jet at Neoperl. Bread was baked, light switches were constructed, playgrounds were modelled, Ricola sweets were boiled, and implants were tested. The wide variety of industries made numerous discoveries possible – from darknet labs to harbor logistics, and even artisan bakeries.

16,000 people on a discovery tour

The initiators and organisers from the Industrienacht Basel association and mgmt gmbh draw a very positive conclusion. The event was organised without any incidents. The spectacular programme met with broad interest and the third edition celebrated a record number of visitors: 16,000 attended this year's Industry Night Regio Basel, 2,000 more than in 2024 (14,000) and almost twice as many as the first edition in 2022 (8,500). The 48 companies recorded around 48,000 entries, meaning that one visitor visited up to three companies on average. The high demand from young people in training was also very pleasing. Over 5,000 pupils, apprentices, and students from the three-country region visited the Industry Night free of charge, exploring the regional labour market and awakening new interests. In addition, around 500 people, accompanied by social institutions, took part in the Industry Night.

Statements

‘The Industry Night once again built bridges and facilitated uncomplicated encounters. For one night, we were able to go on a discovery tour, look behind otherwise closed doors, talk to employees and experience the work firsthand. This not only strengthens the connection between people and companies in the region, but also creates space for creativity and innovation.’
– Esther Keller, Member of the Government of the Canton of Basel-Stadt

‘What an exciting journey of discovery through the regional economy! As the main sponsor, we are thrilled by the commitment of our companies, which offered in-depth insights into their services and innovations. And impressed by the great interest shown by the public in the working worlds of our companies. The Industry Night showed once again that we all benefit from a strong economy.’
– Andreas Meier, Deputy Director of the Basel Chamber of Commerce

‘We were delighted by the interest shown by the visitors – and by the atmosphere of the Industry Night. This was our third time taking part, both as a company opening its doors and as a sponsor. Our employees had a lot of fun again. We were able to show many people the benefits of our work and let them experience our corporate culture.’
– Luc Schultheiss, CFO of the Endress+Hauser Group

‘The Industry Night is a great opportunity to bring electrical engineering to life for the general public and to engage in dialogue with the many visitors. In addition to many interactive stations, including AR/VR glasses, we also opened our switch cabinet workshop this year. Our apprentices also showcased their project work again. Many thanks to all visitors for the great dialogue!’
– Flavia Schmidt, Marketing & Communication Manager at Selmoni

A big thank you to all sponsors, supporters and participating companies

The Industry Night would not have been possible without the active support of its sponsors and partners. The organising committee would like to thank the main sponsor, the Basel Chamber of Commerce, as well as the sponsors IWB, Endress+Hauser, Neoperl and Roche for their commitment and outstanding cooperation. A big thank you also goes to all the people, institutions and companies who have supported the idea of the Industry Night from the very beginning, made the event possible with their services and offered exclusive insights into their working world. Around 2,000 people worked behind the scenes and in the companies.

The Industry Night is a project of the Industrienacht Basel association, with das mgmt gmbh in charge of project management and communication. The organising committee is now working flat out on the evaluation and is already in the middle of planning the fourth Industry Night on Friday, 24 April 2026.
