I’m really looking forward to the Industry Night Regio Basel. The map of company locations shows that they follow a strip running north to south over around eleven kilometres. My tour begins in the south, in Reinach, and ends in Basel.

If you haven’t heard of Endress+Hauser in Reinach yet, you’re in for a treat! Precision is crucial and with their measuring devices, Endress+Hauser ensure that this can be guaranteed in a vast range of areas, wherever it comes into contact with our lives. After Reinach, I recommend travelling onwards to Selmoni in Münchenstein. Electricity is invisible but without it, the world would grind to a halt. Selmoni transports us to a possible future – however, this future has actually been present for longer than many of us may realise. Therefore, it’s even more interesting to take a look behind the scenes.

After visiting Selmoni we’ll head to Lottner in Basel, located directly on the French border. As a company, we not only produce goods but also waste. Lottner collects waste and returns raw materials to the cycle of production wherever possible. At a time when resources are becoming ever scarcer and demand ever greater, reuse is more important than ever. For our final stop we’ll visit the Birtel Biermanufaktur at the Dreispitz site. The tour offers us insight into the brewing process, and you’ll have the opportunity to round off the evening with a cool beer or other drink of your choice.

I want to thank the Verein Industrienacht Basel and all of the companies who have made the Industry Night possible. I also want to wish the audience a most enjoyable voyage of discovery.
