From Idea to Poster

Six years ago, the idea of an industry night in the Basel region emerged around a kitchen table. Now the event is entering its second round. For seven hours on 19 April, you can take a peek behind the scenes of 52 regional companies. Final preparations are underway there, with signs for the shuttle bus stations printed and the website programme ready to examine. Last but not least, more and more Industry Night posters are popping up on the region’s billboards, made (like Industry Night itself), in close cooperation with companies based in the region.

Communication designer Manuel Bürkli has already provided design support for several events in the Basel area and he is responsible for the design and realization of our poster series. His posters for Industry Night feature materials and tools from participating companies. The buttons and metal shavings are Regent. Götschi supplied various hoses, a tension belt, safety goggles, and a saw blade. VITO shared the negroni glass and Ricola the chewy molasses sweet. All other materials are from OFFCUT’s cache of materials. Perhaps you’ll even come across one of these items when you’re visiting companies during Industry Night?

This year’s design extends the 2022 design, with Bürkli presenting the objects in a new visual world. The photo studio in our storage room gradually transformed into a spectacular cabinet of curiosities. The outcome continues the "night" theme, with objects floating in space and a soft yellow glow. The hand remains at the centre, representing the individuals engaged in diverse worlds of work.

Moreover, Birkhäuser+GBC in Reinach has proven a versatile cooperation partner for printing our posters and programme booklets, as well as taking part in Industry Night. After being printed a few weeks ago, many of the posters are now hanging across the Basel region. We also continued our partnership with APG|SGA. They displayed and placed our posters, remaining an active partner of Industry Night.

Our website was designed in cooperation with prolog, a Basel-based office for web development and design. The website has information on all the locations, the programme, topics such as mobility and ticketing as well as a journal offering tips for visitors, behind-the scenes stories and suggestions for itineraries from local celebrities.

Now we’re delighted to welcome you to Industry Night in just a few days – an event made possible, just like our posters and website, by countless supporters, sponsors, and partners in the region.

And if you’re wondering who “we” are: we’re das mgmt, a five-person agency for project management and communication based in Basel. We’re the founders of the Basel region’s Industry Night.
