Review - 20,300 enthusiastic visitors at the fourth Industry Night Regio Basel
For the fourth time, Industry Night offered exciting insights into the region’s working worlds. 20,300 people from the three-country region, young and old alike, took advantage of this opportunity. With over 230 tours and workshops, this year’s programme was particularly varied: visitors tinkered in laboratories, explored the district heating network, inserted implants into models and steered ships and trains in simulations. The initiators draw an all-round positive conclusion.

Yesterday, large numbers of people explored 50 different workplaces and discovered a whole new side to their region. Particular crowd-pullers were the guided tours of the Roche and Novartis laboratories, the Medartis production facility, the SBB logistics centre beneath the station, and the rooftop of Stücki Park. At the ports of Kleinhüningen and Birsfelden, visitors explored impressive container terminals, silos and ships; at the IWB depot, the sophisticated network beneath our feet; and at Sutter Begg, the region’s largest bakery. The many interactive activities were also very popular: visitors tried their hand at carpentry, filmed promotional videos, operated an excavator, spliced fibre-optic cables, explored the nanoworld, built solar fans and switch cabinets, solved puzzles in the archive, brewed beer and conducted experiments in the laboratory. Once again, the event provided a space for informal encounters, questions and ‘aha’ moments. Some companies even received job applications – for young people in particular, the Industry Night was the ideal opportunity to discover careers and interests in a relaxed setting.
20,300 people on a journey of discovery
The colourful and varied programme attracted widespread interest: the fourth edition celebrated a record number of visitors: 20,300 attended this year’s Industry Night Regio Basel, 4,300 more than in 2025 (16,000) and more than twice as many as the first edition in 2022 (8,500). The 50 companies recorded over 55,000 entries, meaning that each person visited just under three companies on average. The high demand from young people in training was also very pleasing. Around 7,000 pupils, apprentices, and students from the three-country region visited the Industry Night free of charge. In addition, 1,500 people, accompanied by social institutions, took part in the Industry Night. The initiators and organisers from the Industrienacht Basel Association and das mgmt gmbh draw an extremely positive conclusion
Impressions from the night
Quotes from the night
“Sparkling eyes, curious questions and genuine ‘aha’ moments – the Industry Night has once again been a resounding success. As the main sponsor, we are delighted to bring people and businesses in our region together and to show how our companies contribute to a high quality of life – whether as committed training providers, strong employers or as drivers of innovation and progress.”
– Martin Dätwyler, Director of the Basel Chamber of Commerce
“Our third participation in the Industry Night was a great success and demonstrated just how valuable open dialogue with our region is. With this year’s focus, ‘Humanity at its Core’, we were able to bring our work to life emotionally through personal patient and research stories. As a family business with deep roots in Basel, we are committed to providing insights into our world of innovation and shaping the future of healthcare together with the region.”
– Nicole Tschanz, Head Site Reputation, Roche Basel / Kaiseraugst
“The Industry Night offers unique insights into corporate cultures that would otherwise be impossible to gain. It is therefore an indispensable platform in our region for inspiring young people in particular to take an interest in the world of work.”
– Kaspar Sutter, Member of the Government Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt
“We were delighted to see just how much interest there was in the wide range of activities and processes involved in railway operations. The direct interaction with visitors was particularly valuable. These encounters build trust, inspire enthusiasm and demonstrate what it takes every day to keep the region moving.”
– Michel Berchtold, Head of SBB Region Mitte
“We’ve been convinced of the value of this event ever since the first Industry Night in 2022, and this year’s event was once again a great success. For the first time, we offered insights into the biotechnology production facility at the Klybeck site, showing how important medicines are produced and made available to patients. The Industry Night provides our employees a valuable opportunity to engage with interested visitors and offer insights into our work.”
– Marcel Braun, Director of the Novartis Pavilion
“We are overwhelmed by the huge turnout. This rush of visitors shows just how curious and interested people in the region are when it comes to matters concerning BVB. This interest is both motivating and a great honour for us.”
– Bruno Stehrenberger, Director of Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe

A big thank you to all sponsors and participating companies
The Industry Night would not have been possible without the active support of its sponsors and partners. The organising committee would like to thank the main sponsor, the Basel Chamber of Commerce, as well as the sponsors IWB, Roche, Novartis, Medartis and Stücki Park for their commitment and excellent cooperation. A big thank you also goes to all the people, institutions and companies who have supported the idea of the Industry Night from the very beginning, made the event possible with their services and offered fascinating insights into their working world. Around 2,000 people worked behind the scenes and in the companies. The Industry Night is a project of the Industrienacht Basel Association, with das mgmt gmbh in charge of project management and communication.
