Craftsmanship from the region
The right grip on the roof, the perfect winding technique when tying brooms, precision work with a cordless screwdriver on robinia wood: you can experience craftsmanship up close at Industry Night. KuKuk on the Alti Papieri site in Arlesheim, for example, builds playgrounds. Everything comes from a single source, from the first sketch to the finishing touches. Together with a KuKuk planner, you can design your own playground model at Industry night and build it yourself using robinia wood with a cordless screwdriver and an angle grinder. Meanwhile, there will be audible craftsmanship at the Homemade Iscream concert. The band makes their own instruments in the ‘stückundgut’ workshop.
The Alti Papier site is now also home to a showroom for Richterich Cleaning and PCT Swiss. The latter company specialises in graffiti removal and building protection. At Industry night, the professionals will show you how graffiti can be removed efficiently, sustainably and gently from buildings of all kinds. Reinigung Richterich offers all kinds of services in the areas of building maintenance, maintenance cleaning and façade cleaning. The company attaches great importance to sustainability, both in the choice of cleaning products and in the actual work. Especially when it comes to cleaning and maintaining façades, the motto is: Turn old into new again. At Industry Night, you can find out more about their services and the potential of AI in the cleaning industry. Honegger in Münchenstein also offers insights into the future of facility management. The company employs 6,500 people at over 20 branches and offers a wide range of services in the cleanroom, healthcare and food sectors. At Industry Night at Honegger, you can experience how buildings are maintained in the age of digitalisation, take a ride on a cleaning machine through a course and take a look inside the fragrant central laundry.

Artistic work is not only done on stage at Theater Basel, but also backstage. At Industry Night, you can take an exclusive look at the workshops where sewing and carpentry are carried out and impressive costumes and stage sets are created. At Knörndel Holzbau & Zimmerei in the Foyer Public of the exhibition hall, you can find out how wood is used in many different ways in the building envelope. The company lays wooden floors, builds staircases and specialises in roof constructions. Knörndel's work can be found on many roofs in Basel's old town. Find out how the roofs above our heads are renovated at Industry Night. An iconic and popular object takes centre stage at the Weizenkorn Foundation: candles in all kinds of colours and shapes. On the tour, you will go through the most important stages of candle production step by step, and of course you can also lend a hand yourself and find out more about what Weizenkorn has to offer.

Dexterity is also required for broom tying: at Die Bürste, you can immerse yourself in the world of brush and broom tying and learn more about a craft that has fallen into oblivion. Be there when a broom is created stitch by stitch and wrap your own hand broom, the must-have in every household. The broom is still an indispensable companion for city cleaning today, but in Basel it has a ‘kink’ - you can find out why this is the case at the Industry Night. Manual work is often not possible without tools - Götschi can help. The Dreispitz business park has something for everyone, from industrial companies to discerning DIY enthusiasts. On the self-guided tour with interactive stations, you can find out more about the fascinating world of tools. Ask your questions, pose for a selfie with impressive tools and print your own T-shirt.
