An adventure for the whole family

How, where, what, why? On Friday, 9 May 2025, Industrienacht Regio Basel (Industry Night) will give families with children the unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of companies and become active themselves. From 5 p.m. to midnight, workshops, laboratories and production facilities will be transformed into adventure worlds that will keep hands busy and put a sparkle in children's eyes.

The programme at the bakery Bäckerei KULT is particularly exciting for young explorers. Here, baking professionals show how to braid a perfect plait – and those who already have experience learn new braiding techniques. At the Dreispitz, children can conjure up their own delicious baked goods at Sutter Begg. If you want to know how brooms and brushes are made, you should visit Die Bürste. Here you can put your hands to work and make your own traditional Basler Handbäseli (a hand brush), stitch by stitch.

Families with a passion for technology will find their happiness at the JETZ Youth Technology Lab. Here, children can solder their own LED game under supervision and gain a first insight into the world of electronics. Selmoni offers even more high-tech: digitalisation becomes tangible with light painting on the wall or an exciting treasure hunt using a tablet. Anyone who has always wanted to know how measurement technology ensures that our milk lasts longer should visit Endress+Hauser. In the training workshop, visitors can experiment and try things out – true to the motto "hands-on digitalisation".

Let's get down to fun business at Stücki Park. Here children can build their own solar fan and learn how to use solar energy in a playful way. The whole family can take part in the wind power challenge and find out who can generate the most energy. Playground planners are wanted at KuKuk! Here, children design their own playground model made of robinia wood – using real tools such as cordless screwdrivers. And if you enjoy puzzles, follow the fox on his journey through Arlesheim and the Kägen. A quiz question or task awaits you at Weleda, Felix Transport, Endress+Hauser, Business Parc and Neoperl. A stamp is awarded for every correct answer. With at least three stamps you have the chance to win a great prize!

Whether traditional crafts or modern technology – the Industry Night offers an evening full of eye-opening experiences where children, young people and parents can discover new things together. When children bake, solder or assemble solar cells themselves, they discover the professional worlds of the Basel region, guided by their curiosity and having fun.

Many of the offers are explicitly aimed at families – simply activate the ‘For families & children’ filter on the website for the programme.
